At NCAAA we strive to protect and maintain our consumers’ independence and self-determination. We do this by investing in professional development activities and specialized training to ensure we are consistently putting the consumers’ needs and goals at the center of any care-plan.  These are just a few examples of the accreditation maintained by NCAAA staff:

Supported Decision Making  – the act of empowering a consumer to build a team that he/she/they can trust to provide input, advice, and feedback on personal matters upon request. The Administration for Community Living ACL has an excellent website dedicated to the topic.

NCAAA staff have been specifically trained in “Charting the LifeCourse”, one of many Supported Decision Making tools available to practitioners. A philosophy more than a service, Person Centered Thinking is based on the premise that the consumer has both the right to direct his/her/their own path, and also the inherent ability to participate in the setting of strategies and goals to be successful. Typically, it is NCAAA’s direct service practitioners who receive this additional certification.

Providing an environment that is open and affirming. In 2024 NCAAA received the Platinum Credential from SAGECare after completing an agency-wide training program to ensure that our consumers feel supported, seen, and protected upon accessing services under our umbrella.
